Our mission
Chimney work has a bad reputation — pushy upsells, vague pricing, and crews that treat a 1918 rowhouse stack like new construction. Brickline was built to be the opposite of that.
We're one local crew of CSIA-certified masons serving Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. Every job gets a flat, written quote before we start. Every repair on pre-war brick gets lime-based mortar matched to the original. And if your chimney is fine, we tell you so — in writing.
Our goal is to be the chimney company your block recommends without reservation — brick by brick, block by block.
How we operate
Masons first, sweeps second
Our crews are trained masons. Repointing, rebuilds, and crown work are done in-house — never subcontracted. The person who quotes your job is the one who shows up.
Flat, written quotes before any work
You get the whole number, itemized and in writing, before we touch a brick. If it's not on the quote, you don't pay for it. No hourly meters, no surprise add-ons.
Lime mortar on pre-war brick — always
Hard modern Portland cement destroys soft historic brick from the inside out. We match mortar hardness, color, and joint profile to the original. Historic review boards approve our work.
Honest recommendations — even if it costs us a job
If your chimney doesn't need repair, we'll tell you so in writing. We give second opinions on 'tear it down' verdicts every month — and often save the chimney.
